Probably the biggest news from Tennis world this year: Alexander Zverev beat Novak Djokovic to win the most prestigious year-end ATP Tour Final Title in London.
Alexander Zverev from Germany and Dominic Thiem from Austria are two of the hottest properties among all the promising newcomers in Tennis and Sascha Zverev proved his credentials by first beating Roger Federer in Semifinal and then Novak in Finals and both those victories came in straight sets.
With Federer turning 38 next year, Nadal 33 and Novak 32, it is high time next generation of tennis players step up and prove their mettle. I have been following Thiem's game for last 3 years and only in 2018, he has come into his own and Zverev, a last minute addition to ATP Finals tournament in place of injured Juan Martin Del Potro, stunned two of the most accomplished tennis players in history to lift this title. Federer, Nadal, Murray, and Novak have been the Gold Standards of Tennis for so long and it has been a privilege to watch them for last one and a half decade. But Zverev's victory might finally signal a change in Tennis Empire of these four.
I wish more power and luck to them because there is no doubt in my mind that Novak, Rafa, and FedEx will give up on their crown so soon and so easily.
