PM Modi: Good Work on China, Now Move on to Kashmir and Pakistan Please

To be frank, Modi's several surgical strikes over Pakistan bunkers didn't impress me one bit. The fact that they could be even manipulated made me doubt them some more. But more than anything, they didn't solve any purpose. Pakistan has been engaged with us in a Guirella Warfare. They are a small nation and could only prick us. It's us who make a big deal about it and shout foul. They kill our 4, we kill their 8. What do we gain? Soldiers are recruited for the very purpose on battlefields: To defend or die. It's the foreign policy that matters most. How we tackle an apparent threat from an Enemy nation in long and short term and what tactics should we employ form the Crux of it. BJP, the right wing national party of our nation, is when sitting in opposition makes such hue and cry over a Pakistani infiltration that it appears that when they would sit on the iron throne, they would obliterate Pakistan from World Map on day 1 of their regime. A man as Iron Willed a Modi too don't have any clue about what to do about Pakistan. Leave Pakistan. He has a government in alliance with PDP in J&K and despite Mehbooba's several pleas that only he could address the ongoing, difficult situations in Valley, the guy hasn't reacted. I really wonder whether he, Amit Shah and Ajit Doval are thinking of winning the upcoming state elections of Gujrat and Odisha. BJP and our many governments as a whole don't have a solid Pakistan policy at all. We haven't sealed the borders with them. Why? If we could make 10000 homes in Nepal and Sri Lanka, why couldn't we seal our borders with Pakistan? Why do the infiltration still occur? Why do our soldiers still get killed? Why does Pakistan still enjoy MFN status after the gruesome Pathankot attacks? Very difficult questions and neither Modi, nor our 'Modified-Nationalist' media have an answer for them....

But this isn't a derogatory post. No, not at all. While we don't have a great Pakistan policy, we do have a great functional China policy. After ceding Aksai Chin to China back in 1962, we really didn't buckle under significant Chinese pressure. We chided them further by giving Holy Dalai Lama refuge in our country. His Highness has a de facto, government in-exile, in Dharmashala, Himachal Pradesh. China keeps cribbing over him and we don't give it a single inch. Then this week, our government really made us proud when it boycotted the OBOR initiative of China that's due to change the geopolitics of world in 50 years time if becomes fully functional. All the great countries of our world attended this global summit. In our allies, only Bhutan didn't participate but does it even exist? Chinese foreign office sent us invites over invites, made numerous appeals to our technocrats and bureaucrats but nobody attended their call. To those who are still unaware of the reason of India's brave call, it's the CPEC I.e. China Pakistan Economic Corridor, a step under many developmental initiatives under OBOR, which challenges over sovereignity in PoK for it passes through it. China doesn't want to address this sovereign call as it think it's a matter between Pakistan and India but think of us as fools to let them preside over this disputed region. As of now, this region is 'Pakistan occupied', so we really cannot do anything about it except to nuclear bomb Beijing which in all probability is impossible to even think of. So instead, we chose 'Satyagrah' and boycotted it. Chinese media went mental about it because the world's fastest growing Economy, second largest consumer market, an immediate neighbour and a great trading partner skipped it. Simple. Just like that. Now that's solid and Tha fact that Indian government didn't make an u-turn on it or made an official statement, gladdens my heart more.

So Modi Government, you deserve a three-fingers royal salute at least on this front. Now do something about Pakistan to unlock your second 'three-fingers' royal salute!!!!

The Leftovers: A Very 'Special' HBO Production

Three things that have occupied my mind for last three days in descending order of importance are: Justin Trudeau, Heinrich Klassen and The Leftovers. I am going to write here about the least important entity for I am likely to forget about it most urgently. The Leftovers is an HBO production and like the most HBO productions, it makes for a great television experience. I chose to watch it for two reasons: First, it was only three season long with 28 episodes in total and secondly, for two years running, it was the best TV show in American Landscape. There was a third reason as well and it was in the name of its creator's promise. Damon Lindelof is one of the brightest American minds and he gave us 'Lost' all those years back. I have been a huge fan of 'Lost' and till this time, gush about its fantastical and mythical elements. People still find it very hard to crack the mysteries of Lost and when a show leaves you with more questions than the answers after its 8

Phillip Seymour Hoffman : An Obituary

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was one of the modern acting greats. You can always identify and isolate him in an ensemble cast. Give him just two-three lines in a 150-180 minutes long feature film and still he would enthrall the audience with his magic and aura and come out on top. People and critics alike bestowed countless superlatives upon him in a career spanning over more than two decades but whether any one of those adjectives ever managed to justify his cinematic craft, I seriously doubted. He was unprecedented and unsurpassed in the practice of cinematic artistry and thus emerged as America’s greatest character actor ever, period. Paul Giamatti is his worthy successor and hopefully he would calm and soothe our nerves with his finest performances in times to come in Phillip’s absence. Phillip ultimately was a show-stealer, a rabble-rouser, an aloof but a sympathizing marvelous human being who marveled in Hollywood though always residing at its sidelines. I first saw him playing a y

Book Review: Unanswered

'Unanswered' is a book penned by Mr. Kunal Uniyal and it's his third book. I am calling it a book, using a common noun to describe it and I have a good enough reason for doing so. It's a book that consists off both poems and prose and I was in real dilemma picturing its prognosis in my mind. It started with a poem named 'You and I' and beautiful it was, all poised and lyrical. And then came a snippet of a prose by the name 'Life of a Yogi'. They were really not connected and I was perplexed. Then I allowed myself some comfort and decided to dig up some more. Some more beautiful poems and accompanying yet again not quite related passages of prose followed but now they looked more in shape and very much in order. Now I was beginning to realize that there was more to this book than met my eyes earlier and it's scope is much wider that what I originally thought. You are required to engage yourself with this book and once you do that, you will know you ar
