The MS Dhoni Conundrum That's Badly Troubling Team India

During the 3 hrs of my class, I restlessly kept checking ESPN Cricinfo (and that was after India was beaten miraculously) for any info regarding MS Dhoni resigning the captaincy of Indian ODI Team. But as you know, it was all futile for Dhoni is our captain. He didn't finish off the match which he was quite used to do till 2011 and took the complete responsibility of this loss upon himself. Steven Smith himself concluded that when Kohli and Dhawan were batting, he felt like needing 15-16 men for keeping their run-scoring in check. But at the end, he must have been gobsmacked seeing the glorious and hugely unfortunate ineptness of Indian Cricket team. This team never plays Australia to beat them. Ask any men from Indian Cricket team and they will all say before the commencement of an Aus match that they are feeling positive and sure of doing well but they are never sure of beating Australia. Doing them for an Indian bowler means going for 55 runs in an over and for a batsman, a good start first, then a milestone like 50 or 100 and then they are done. Apart from the curious case of Rohit Sharma, who has certainly got to know the worth of his wicket and rarely throws it away, others have mastered the art of exactly doing that and that too at a crucial juncture of the match. Result, we always lose to Australia for they always know that Indian will implode. They have no prestige, no self belief, nothing.

Star Sports, the broadcaster of T20 world cup in India, is advertising a series of TVCs where every Indian Cricket fan is supposed to remain status quo of 2011 WC for that will be a good omen to start up with in order to wish them all the luck. MS Dhoni in one ad is shown to be choosing the perfect hairstyle to sport in the event and asks every fan to do his/her own taiyaari. Well, MS, if you continue to perform like this, there will be no doubt in us fans' minds that India will be bowed down of group stage only. And for God's sake, relinquish the captaincy which you are already planning to do via retiring after this Cricketing Extravaganza. This will at least help you with your batting. Learn something from Hashim Amla. He made a double hundred first, secured his team, drew the game and then vacated the captaincy spot for AB. You ashamed us in Australia and England both in 2011 and 2014 and even left the team in Doldrums when we were already 2-0 down in Australian test series. What sort of responsibility can we come to expect of you?

Indian Selectors have the most thankless job in the world and so far, I have liked only one person out of 100+ personnel that took up that job. That is Kiran More. He openly ridiculed Sourav Ganguly during his wretched term along side Niranjan Shah and made arrangement of his ouster from not only the captaincy but also that team. Ganguly, whom millions of fans swore allegiance too, got the worst of treatments from selectors but selectors go spineless when it comes to dethroning MS. He has grown weaker in his wicket keeping, worst in batting and captaincy and he would still talk about 'PROCESS'. For Australians, process ended with Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh and Ponting only delivered results. For SA, it was Cronje. For England, Naseer and Strauss. Cook for England and Graeme Smith for SA brought phenomenal results for their teams but in our country, process that was started out by Ganguly is still going on. Sure, we won in 2007, 2011, ICC No. 1 test ranking in 2010 but even the staunchest of Dhoni supporters would agree that they were more luck than performance. All being said, this is gotta be one of the saddest and most disappointing days of my cricket watching life and I shall mourn it for a very long while, I am sure..........‪#‎LoserCountry‬.......‪#‎DhoniPlsGoNow‬

The Leftovers: A Very 'Special' HBO Production

Three things that have occupied my mind for last three days in descending order of importance are: Justin Trudeau, Heinrich Klassen and The Leftovers. I am going to write here about the least important entity for I am likely to forget about it most urgently. The Leftovers is an HBO production and like the most HBO productions, it makes for a great television experience. I chose to watch it for two reasons: First, it was only three season long with 28 episodes in total and secondly, for two years running, it was the best TV show in American Landscape. There was a third reason as well and it was in the name of its creator's promise. Damon Lindelof is one of the brightest American minds and he gave us 'Lost' all those years back. I have been a huge fan of 'Lost' and till this time, gush about its fantastical and mythical elements. People still find it very hard to crack the mysteries of Lost and when a show leaves you with more questions than the answers after its 8

Phillip Seymour Hoffman : An Obituary

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was one of the modern acting greats. You can always identify and isolate him in an ensemble cast. Give him just two-three lines in a 150-180 minutes long feature film and still he would enthrall the audience with his magic and aura and come out on top. People and critics alike bestowed countless superlatives upon him in a career spanning over more than two decades but whether any one of those adjectives ever managed to justify his cinematic craft, I seriously doubted. He was unprecedented and unsurpassed in the practice of cinematic artistry and thus emerged as America’s greatest character actor ever, period. Paul Giamatti is his worthy successor and hopefully he would calm and soothe our nerves with his finest performances in times to come in Phillip’s absence. Phillip ultimately was a show-stealer, a rabble-rouser, an aloof but a sympathizing marvelous human being who marveled in Hollywood though always residing at its sidelines. I first saw him playing a y

Book Review: Unanswered

'Unanswered' is a book penned by Mr. Kunal Uniyal and it's his third book. I am calling it a book, using a common noun to describe it and I have a good enough reason for doing so. It's a book that consists off both poems and prose and I was in real dilemma picturing its prognosis in my mind. It started with a poem named 'You and I' and beautiful it was, all poised and lyrical. And then came a snippet of a prose by the name 'Life of a Yogi'. They were really not connected and I was perplexed. Then I allowed myself some comfort and decided to dig up some more. Some more beautiful poems and accompanying yet again not quite related passages of prose followed but now they looked more in shape and very much in order. Now I was beginning to realize that there was more to this book than met my eyes earlier and it's scope is much wider that what I originally thought. You are required to engage yourself with this book and once you do that, you will know you ar
